What is Restylane®?
Restylane® is a FDA-approved dermal filler. It is another safe and natural hyaluronic acid cosmetic filler used to erase moderate to severe wrinkles and folds. It was the first cosmetic filler made from non-animal-based hyaluronic acid. This is a sugar that is naturally found in the body and provides volume and fullness to the skin.
Restylane is very safe and requires no skin testing. It has been used world wide since 1996. Restylane products include: Restylane®, Restylane-L®, Perlane®
What are the benefits of Restylane®?
Restylane can pretty much treat any lines on the face you want softened and diminished. These products fill in the depressions of the lower 2/3 of the face. We can soften the lines from your nose to your mouth, marionette lines (lines from the corner of your mouth), lip lines and fixed frown crease lines. I can plump up and enhance your lips. I can also enhance your cheeks and lift your cheeks. I can also treat fixed forehead lines with this filler.
For Houston Juvéderm®, people trust the skilled and experienced care at the office of Esta Kronberg, MD. A hyaluronic acid dermal filler, this innovative treatment is one of the latest that dermatological research has to offer.
What is Juvéderm®?
Juvéderm® is a hyaluronic acid dermal filler. This innovative treatment is one of the latest that dermatological research has to offer. Juvederm products are a Hyaluronic Acid (HA) product that comes from sugar. It is actually natural to your body and even found in your body naturally.
One of the best things about this treatment is that it involves using natural ingredients, with impressive results. Not only do you see a vast improvement in wrinkles and fine lines throughout the face and neck, but you won’t experience the side effects that other fillers have often been known for. It is also safe for all types of skin.
Types of Juvéderm®
The following types are offered by Dr. Kronberg:
Juvederm XC
Juvederm Voluma XC
Juvederm Ultra Plus
We have a variety of forms of Juvederm and we customize the form that is best for your needs. All of the products come with Lidocaine to ensure the patients comfort.
Does it hurt?
We use a very good topical cream that numbs the skin beautifully in 30 minutes. With this, ice packs and sometimes a dental block for the lip lines the patients do beautifully and are very comfortable with the treatment.
Common areas are treated
We can use Juvéderm® to treat any fixed wrinkle on the face such as your frown crease, nasolabial folds (lines from nose to mouth), fixed wrinkles of the forehead, wrinkles around the mouth, plump up the lips and make them fuller. Dr. Kronberg can also make your cheeks fuller and lift your cheeks. We can also treat the lines called marionette lines, these come from the corners of the mouth.
Areas that see the most benefit from this procedure include smile lines, lines around the mouth, and anywhere there are deep wrinkles. The serum fills in these areas, creating a smoother and more refreshed look. It is blended with a small amount of lidocaine to help make the procedure more comfortable.
How long do the results last?
The Juvéderm® products last about 8 months to a year. Thicker Juvéderm® Ultra Plus seems to last about a year and the cheek enhancing and tightening Voluma last about 18 months to 2 years.
Common Side Effects
The side effects after Juvéderm® treatment last for only a few days. These include slight bruising and tenderness.
When will I see results?
You will see results immediately. The treated areas should look better right away and actually improve a lot more over 3 to 5 days. The product acts like a sponge and absorbs water. So the results gradually improve over a 5 day span. It is also recommended to not exercise the remainder of the day after a treatment.
Juvéderm® Cost
The average 1 cc syringe of Juvéderm® is $600. ½ cc Juvéderm® syringes are approximately $400. 1cc Syringe of Voluma is $1000.
Perlane® is a filler in the Restylane® family of products. It is a Hyaluronic Acid like Restylane® but it is a thicker gel. It can be used in the folds from the nose to the mouth, the corners of the mouth and in the cheeks. It is a more robust filling agent and is used for deeper creases. It can last more than 1 year. There is no skin testing needed and it has Lidocaine mixed in the product to enhance comfort for the patient.
This is the first FDA approved permanent filler. It is only used for the nasolabial folds. It is a combination of Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) and purified bovine collagen. Because of this it requires a skin test that is read in one month.
Results are seen immediately. As the collagen reabsorbs into the dermis, the body begins to make its own to fill in the wrinkles. This gives you immediate satisfaction from the bovine collagen and the PMMA stimulates your body to make your own for a long lasting result.
This product is not an overnight miracle. It is long lasting. It is not a quick-fix. The first facial injectable that gives you subtle results over time. It is a gradual response to building your own collagen. It replaces lost collagen. Sculptra® gives you a more natural-looking appearance, without giving you away. A full treatment of Sculptra® Aesthetic, an average of three injection sessions over a few months, can last more than two years.*
Sculptra® Aesthetic is a new type of facial injectable made from poly-L-lactic acid, which helps to replace lost collagen. It helps correct shallow to deep facial wrinkles, and folds,** that appear with aging by replacing lost collagen. The main ingredient is a biocompatible, biodegradable synthetic material that has been used by physicians for decades.
In this day and age, there is no such thing as having to suck it up and age like your grandmother once did. In fact, here at Dr. Esta Kronberg’s office, we believe that the only real way to age is gracefully. One of our biggest secrets? Botox. If you are starting to see signs of aging Houston Dermatologist, Dr. Kronberg, can reduce fine lines and wrinkles with Botox.
Botox has remained the most popular non-invasive cosmetic procedure for a variety of reasons. Botox is derived from a purified protein called botulinum toxin-A. Once it is injected into your facial muscles around your eyes and forehead, Botox temporarily blocks nerve signals which in turn causes your wrinkles to relax and soften—leaving you with a more youthful appearance.
IPL is a non-invasive procedure to freshen the skin. It eliminates red and brown skin discolorations, which are caused by sun and tanning bed damage.
The treatment gets rid of redness, flushing, broken capillaries, fine lines and brown spots. It also eliminates the redness and flushing of Rosacea as well as red acne scars. You will also see the disappearance of mottled skin as your skin takes on a nice, fresh glow. Overall, your appearance is much brighter and youthful-looking.
IPL’s benefit is that it gives you the results of a medium depth peel without the down time or risk of a more invasive procedure.
Patients do a series of 5 treatments, 3 – 4 weeks apart.
Dr. Kronberg does all the treatments and has been performing this since 2001.
Fraxel® Laser treatment is a minimally invasive procedure that improves fine lines, moderate wrinkles, sun damage, mottled pigmentation and scars with minimal downtime.
The Laser produces thousands of micro columns of treatment zones. It penetrates deep into the dermis; but just as important are the areas left untouched around the treated skin. For every micro zone treated intensively; it leaves the surrounding skin unaffected and intact. This “fractional” treatment allows the skin to heal much faster.
Recommended for individuals with moderate to excessive sun and tanning bed damage.
4 treatments one month apart
Sunburn pink for 3 days
Makeup in 24 hours
Omnilux is a LED (Light Emitting Diode) machine.
We use the red light to rejuvenate the skin. It is non-invasive with no down time. We plan for 8 treatments over 4 weeks to rejuvenate the skin.
To speed things up, we can do the Omnilux therapy in 2-3 treatments by adding PDT (Photodynamic Therapy). This is a light sensitizing solution we put on your skin for 20 minutes. Then you lay under the light for 20 minutes. We call this the Red Peel.
You will be light sensitive for 2 days and have some peeling and redness for 3 days up to a week. This is a great quick way to rejuvenate your skin. It will also get rid of pre-skin cancers (Actinic Keratoses).
The Pellevé System delivers constant, gradual radiofrequency energy deeply into the skin, causing heat to build up where the skin and fat layer meet. The increasing heat modifies the collagen bundles deep in the skin, causing contraction and stimulating the growth of new collagen over time. The result: firmer, tighter younger looking skin.
We use gentle heat to stimulate the collagen to tighten. We plan for 3 treatments 1 month apart. It feels like a warm massage. There is no down time.

Dr. Kronberg uses the Gentlase® Laser for hair removal. It is a 755 wavelength Laser.
Many people suffer from excessive hair. I find this Laser to be the most effective on the market today as it eliminates unwanted hair for both men and women. This Laser has been available for many years and is very safe.
The best candidate is a person with dark hair and light complexion. The Laser will not work on blonde, red or silver hair. Laser hair removal should not be performed on dark pigmented skin.
It usually takes 4 to 6 treatments for long term hair reduction.
Dr. Kronberg performs all Laser procedures.
We can remove tattoos with a Laser. The light shatters the pigment to get rid of the color. It takes 6- 10 treatments. You can do the treatments 1 to 2 months apart.
All laser procedures are performed by Dr. Kronberg.
Dr. Kronberg donates time and personal expense to help the Houston Police Department and Harris County get kids out of gangs by removing their tattoos.
This process gently removes the top layer of dead skin cells to improve the texture and tone of the skin. This is done with a diamond tip and is much gentler than using the traditional crystals. There is no down time. These are performed by our medical aesthetician.
One of the unfortunate milestones of aging is the appearance of tiny clusters of red, purple, and blue squiggly lines on our thighs, calves, and ankles. These appear in weblike arrangements, hence the name — spider veins. While spider veins aren’t painful in most cases, they are unsightly. Dr. Kronberg has extensive experience using sclerotherapy to treat spider veins and small varicose veins.
Believe it or not, the best treatment for getting rid of spider veins was invented in the 1930s — sclerotherapy. A sclerosant solution, consisting of either hypertonic saline or sodium tetradecyl sulphate, is injected directly into the vein with a very fine needle. This solution irritates the vein wall, causing it to collapse and close off the vein. This instantly diminishes the appearance of the vein. Over the next few weeks any remaining signs vanish as the body absorbs the now-unused vein. Any blood that was routed through the vein is instantly rerouted to an adjacent, healthy vein.
Dr. Kronberg has extensive experience with spider veins, and she feels sclerotherapy is the best solution to remove them. She has tried using laser energy to damage and close off the veins, but doesn’t feel the process is as targeted or effective as sclerotherapy.
Do you have a double chin? If you’re over 40, most of us have one to some degree. It’s a combination of the effects of aging, gravity, and a few extra grams of fat here and there. The result is a profile that is less defined than in our younger years. Kybella is now one of the most popular products to correct this problem.
When you think of Kybella, you can basically think of it as deoxycholic acid. Dr. Kronberg injects Kybella in a number of locations under the chin to break down the fat and tighten the profile. Thus far, the FDA has only approved Kybella for treating submental fullness.
These are deep pore cleansing treatments and are performed by our medical aesthetician. These are used to cleanse the skin and treat acne problems. A customized program will be designed for you depending on your needs. A little pampering goes a long way in these treatments.
The core facial begins with a gentle cleansing. Then your pores will be steamed and examined. The next step involves a deeper cleansing with gentle extractions to remove blackheads and clogged pores. We then perform a gentle exfoliation.
There are many customized treatments that can be applied during your facial. These treatments; such as Glycolic Acid, Antioxidant Vitamin C and Skin Normalization with Vitamin A will enhance you facial results.
Our aesthetician will customize your facial treatments and will help you with a home skin care program.
We use non-buffered 50% concentration, 0.9 pH, medical strength Glycolic Acid 50% to quickly, gently and microscopically exfoliate the skin. The peels help eliminate poor tone, mottled pigmentation, fine lines, scars, acne, and blackheads. It also controls oiliness. These are painless procedures and have no down time. The patient will have a series of these glycolic peels based on their need and problem in conjunction with home maintenance products.
We highly recommend this format in lieu of ‘deeper’ chemical peels for a number of reasons. Peels involving various forms of TCA (trichlorocetic acid) and Jessner Solutions, as well as Phenol, add significant risk and all have down-time, unlike Glycolic Acid. The risk (scarring, keloids, hyperpigmentation, hypopigmentation, permanent allergies and infection) in using more aggressive treatments is dramatically increased. The end result of Glycolic Acid is the same as the more aggressive treatments but is much gentler with a minimal amount of risk in the correct hands.
Treatments are microscopic, just the way your skin’s own exfoliation cycle is designed to work. We are simply speeding up the process. Treatments are customized to your skin and specific needs.
