  • Greg Alexander

    Attorney

A graduate of South Texas College of Law, Mr. Alexander has been successfully representing the people of Greater Houston and the surrounding area for over 17 years. Licensed by the Supreme Court of Texas and the U.S. District Court – Southern District of Texas. Mr. Alexander is a member of the State Bar of Texas, Houston Bar Association, Texas Trial Lawyers Association and the Houston Trial Lawyers Association. Mr. Alexander’s strength lies in his compassion for the people that he represents. His conviction drives him to excel using his knowledge of the law to provide the best possible case for his clients. Why Do You Need an Attorney? When deciding whether to retain an attorney, remember that insurance adjusters are highly trained and their job is to settle cases as soon as possible for the least amount of money possible. They handle hundreds of cases and, in a sense; they are professionals at what they do. Do not make the mistake of thinking you can outsmart them, trust them or confide in them. They work for a large corporation and their interest and yours are completely opposite. They come across as very friendly until they have obtained all of the information they want. They almost always want to immediately take your statement before you hire an attorney and some use delay tactics in admitting liability in order to delay timely medical treatment. Hiring an attorney who practices personal injury law on a regular basis can ensure that your rights are protected.

  • Auto/Truck Accidents

Automobile collision cases have become far more sophisticated than they were 15 years ago. Commonplace are issues of overlapping insurance coverage, subrogation, comparative responsibility and uninsured motorist. Generally, the applicable law surrounding automobile collision cases includes negligence, gross negligence, negligence per se, strict products liability and Texas Workers’ Compensation law. Insurance companies today, aggressively investigate accidents and it is not that uncommon for them to call injured victims at their homes trying to get recorded statements about the extent of their injuries. Some insurance companies even go so far as to send adjusters to the home of injured victims to get a recorded statement in person, take pictures of the injuries and offer small amounts of money to settle the case. This is done to gain an unfair advantage before the injured person has a chance to consult with an attorney. If you or a loved one have been injured in an automobile accident, it is imperative that you consult with an attorney as soon as possible and especially before you speak with an insurance adjuster. At the ALEXANDER LAW FIRM, initial consultations are free and you owe it to yourself to know your rights! If you need a doctor, we will help you find one. If you need a rental car right away, in most instances we can help you get one. We will handle your property damage claim free of charge and be present with you during any recorded statements.

  • Alzheimer Injuries

Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive condition in which nerve cells degenerate in the brain and the brain substance shrinks. It is the single most common cause of dementia. The features of the disease vary among individuals, but there are three major stages: Forgetfulness Severe Memory Loss Severe Disorientation and Confusion Nursing homes are considered “health care providers” and are subject to medical liability for negligent treatment, lack of treatment, or other claimed departure from accepted standards of medical care, which results in injury to, or death of the patient. Nursing homes must be specially licensed to care for Alzheimer’s patients; therefore, they are held to a higher duty in caring for an Alzheimer’s patient. One of the most difficult decisions one has to make in life is to place a loved one into a nursing home. The decision requires trust and faith in the facility in which they are placed. Unfortunately, our loved ones do not always receive the quality care they deserve and are paying for. The Alexander Law Firm will thoroughly, completely, and competently investigate the facts and circumstances surrounding your loved one’s injuries. We believe that time is of the essence to prevent evidence from being lost or destroyed; therefore, we immediately begin working on your case. We obtain complete and accurate copies of the applicable medical records and in some cases immediately take depositions of the personnel involved. If a loved one has wandered away or has not been properly supervised and has suffered an injury or death, please call 1-800-350-5110, then press 0 to speak with one of our injury attorneys.

  • Amputations

In an acquired amputation, the injured person has a limb or limbs removed in part, or completely due to an accident, or by surgery. Most traumatic amputations occur while operating machinery. Usually the cause is a negligent operator, negligent fellow employee, third party, or defective machinery. If the traumatic amputation occurs on the job, you should immediately file a Workers’ Compensation claim for injuries and lost wages. You should also immediately contact an attorney to discuss your legal rights against any possible third parties including the manufacture of the machinery. This is an area of the law that is very complex and requires a careful analysis of the facts by an experienced attorney. Under Texas law, employees generally cannot sue their employers for injuries that occur during the course and scope of their employment if the employer is a subscriber to Workers’ Compensation insurance. However, the employee’s estate can sue the employer for gross negligence if the injury results in death. The Texas Workers’ Comp bar does not prevent an injured employee from suing third parties that are responsible for their injuries. This also includes manufacturers of products that are defective. If the traumatic amputation occurs during self-employment or under circumstances that do not involve employment, you should also immediately contact an attorney so that he or she can begin an investigation before evidence is lost or destroyed. It is very important that pictures of the injuries and machinery be taken immediately after the accident before anything is changed or moved. The Alexander Law Firm will thoroughly, completely, and competently investigate the facts and circumstances surrounding your amputation injury. We believe that time is of the essence to prevent evidence from being lost or destroyed; therefore, we immediately begin working on your case. At the Alexander Law Firm, initial consultations are free. You owe it to yourself to know your rights! Please call 1-800-350-5110 and then press 0 to speak with one of our injury attorneys.

  • Birth Injuries

Birth injuries are damages that occur to the child during pregnancy, labor and delivery. The birthing process, although a part of the natural life cycle, is complicated and medical personnel must be vigilant and do their jobs properly to prevent harm to you or your baby. Injuries at birth are malpractice when the doctor causes an injury or worsens the effects of a naturally occurring injury by acting in a manner not consistent with established medical practices. Birth injuries are rare, occurring in roughly 27 out of every 1,000 births, but the result can be devastating with life-long consequences. Mechanical trauma and oxygen deprivation (anoxic trauma) are the two major causes of birth injuries. A physical force applied to your child’s body, including excessive force during delivery, causes mechanical trauma. Distress caused by misjudging a baby’s weight (resulting in a turbulent birth) and misuse of forceps or vacuum during delivery are also causes of mechanical trauma. Oxygen deprivation injuries result when the infant’s supply of oxygen to the brain is reduced, which can cause brain damage. This can occur in all stages of pregnancy, although the most risk is present during delivery. The treating physician has a responsibility to monitor a child during birth to ensure that it is properly oxygenated, and to take immediate action to correct any potential problems. The Alexander Law Firm will thoroughly, completely, and competently investigate the facts and circumstances surrounding your case. We believe that time is of the essence to prevent evidence from being lost or destroyed; therefore, we immediately begin working on your case. At the Alexander Law Firm, initial consultations are free. You owe it to yourself to know your rights! If your child has received a birth trauma resulting in serious injury or death, please call 1-800-350-5110, then press 0 to speak with one of our injury attorneys.

  • Burn/Scar Injuries

Each year in the United States approximately two million people are burned or scolded badly enough to need medical treatment. Approximately 68,000 require admission to a hospital. Burn injuries are most common in children and the elderly. The skin is a living tissue and even brief exposure to heat above 120 degrees Fahrenheit can damage its cells. First-degree burns cause reddening of the skin and affect only the epidermis, which is the top layer of the skin. Such burns heal quickly, but the damaged skin may peel away after a day or two. An example of a first-degree burn is sunburn. Second-degree burns damage the skin more deeply, causing blisters. However, some of the dermis, which is a deeper layer of skin, is left to recover, and these burns usually heal without scarring unless they are very extensive. Extensive second-degree burns require skin grafting early in the treatment to minimize scarring. Third-degree burns destroy the full skin thickness. The affected area will look white or charred and if the burn is very deep, muscles or bones may be exposed. These burns require special treatment and skin grafts to prevent scarring. Third-degree burns always require skin grafting if scarring is to be avoided. Very extensive burns usually require repeated surgical procedures by a plastic surgeon. Hospital stays can vary from a few days to many weeks or months. Electrical Burns can cause severe, extensive damage with minimal external skin damage. Any mark left on damaged tissue after it has healed is a scar. Scar tissue forms not only on the skin but also on all internal wounds, for example after a muscle tear. A hypertrophic scar is a large, unsightly scar that may develop at the site of a wound. A keloid scar is a large, irregularly shaped scar that continues to grow in size as the body continues to produce extra collagen after a wound has healed. Adhesions are areas of scar tissue that form between unconnected parts of internal organs. The Alexander Law Firm will thoroughly, completely, and competently investigate the facts and circumstances surrounding your burn injury. We believe that time is of the essence to prevent evidence from being lost or destroyed; therefore, we immediately begin working on your case. At the Alexander Law Firm, initial consultations are free. You owe it to yourself to know your rights! • Injuries Involving Children

Under Texas law, special rules have been developed for accidents involving children. These rules apply to the ways in which children are compensated, as well as determining liability. Children are not held to the same standard of negligence as adults because Texas law recognizes that children do not make the same well-formed judgments as adults do. Whenever a child is seriously injured you should contact an injury attorney as soon as possible, and especially before you speak to an insurance adjuster, to know your rights. Once a settlement has been reached on behalf of the child, the court will appoint an attorney ad litem to ensure that any settlements on behalf of the minor are fair and equitable. Depending upon the amount of settlement, the net settlement proceeds for the minor are either paid into the registry of the court, or paid into a structured settlement on behalf of the child. The Alexander Law Firm will thoroughly, completely and competently investigate the facts and circumstances surrounding your child’s injury. We believe that time is of the essence to prevent evidence from being lost or destroyed; therefore, we immediately begin working on your case. • Construction Accidents

Construction site accidents involve Workers’ Compensation law, strict products liability and traditional principles of negligence. Construction accidents are unique in the sense that they quite often involve third parties. Construction sites usually have several companies working together at the same time. For example, there is usually a general contractor and several subcontractors on a construction site. Texas law requires that construction workers be provided a reasonably safe place to work. It is not unusual for an employee of one contractor to be injured by the negligence of an employee of another contractor. If you are injured on a construction site, you should immediately contact an attorney to discuss your legal rights. This is an area of the law that is very complex and requires careful analysis of the facts by an experienced attorney. • Diving and Drowning

When diving or drowning accidents occur on commercial property, e.g., apartment complexes, liability is determined under traditional principles of negligence, gross negligence and negligence per se. The central issue is whether the property owner and/or occupier provided adequate safety measures under the circumstances. Relevant factors include failure to properly secure the pool from young children, the existence and condition of safety measures implemented into the pool design and maintained by the apartment complex, and the existence of and enforcement of safety rules by the complex. When diving or drowning accidents occur upon residential property liability is still determined under traditional principles of negligence. However, a lesser duty of care is owed because of the absence of a landlord/tenant relationship between the victim and premises owner. An expert under the supervision and direction of an attorney should immediately investigate diving and drowning accidents that occur upon commercial property. It is imperative that the investigation is completed before spoliation of the evidence occurs. An expert can determine and verify violation of safety codes and ordinances. The Alexander Law Firm will thoroughly and competently investigate the facts and circumstances surrounding your case. We believe that time is of the essence to prevent evidence from being lost or destroyed; therefore, we immediately begin working on your case. At the Alexander Law Firm, initial consultations are free. You owe it to yourself to know your rights! • Dog Bites

If you or a loved one is the victim of a dog bite, you should contact an injury attorney immediately. At the Alexander Law Firm, initial consultations are free. You owe it to yourself to know your rights! Dog bites are very painful and quite often leave permanent physical and emotional scarring. Immediately after an attack, it is important to identify the dog and its owner. If the dog escaped from its owner’s yard, it is important to take pictures of the point of escape, for example, a hole in the fence or rotted wood. It is also very important to take photographs of the wounds, if possible, before and after they are sutured. As soon as possible, you should report the bite to Animal Control who will investigate and make a report. Usually, they will pick up the animal and hold them until a determination of rabies can be made. Minor children are especially vulnerable to dog bites and often receive emotional scars that affect the quality of their life. For example, nightmares, abnormal fear of dogs, bed wetting etc. If your child exhibits these or similar symptoms it is very important to get them into counseling as soon as possible. Physical scarring on minor children, as well as adults should be reviewed by a plastic surgeon to determine whether scar revision will be necessary, and if so, the amount of costs associated with such treatment. The Alexander Law Firm will thoroughly, completely, and competently investigate the facts and circumstances surrounding the dog bite. We believe that time is of the essence to prevent evidence from being lost or destroyed; therefore, we immediately begin working on your case. At the Alexander Law Firm, initial consultations are free. You owe it to yourself to know your rights! Please call 1-800-350-5110 then press 0 to speak with one of our injury attorneys.

  • Head Injuries

Accidents involving the head usually result in severe injuries and sometimes death. Head injuries are sometimes very difficult to diagnose and should be watched closely. A blow may severely shake the brain, sometimes causing brain damage, even when there are no signs of external injury, which is a closed head injury. If the head injury is mild, there may be no symptoms other than a slight headache. In some cases there is a concussion, which may cause confusion, dizziness, and blurred vision, sometimes persisting for several days. More severe head injuries, particularly blows to the head, may result in unconsciousness that lasts longer than a few minutes, or coma, which may be fatal. After severe brain injury the person may have some muscular weakness or paralysis and loss of sensation. Symptoms such as persistent vomiting, pupils of unequal size, double vision, or a deteriorating level of consciousness suggest progressive brain damage. These symptoms may begin immediately after the injury or after apparent recovery. The Alexander Law Firm will thoroughly, completely and competently investigate the facts and circumstances surrounding your head injury. We believe that time is of the essence to prevent evidence from being lost or destroyed; therefore, we immediately begin working on your case. • LASIK Eye Injury

A malpractice claim for a LASIK eye procedure must overcome the informed consent document that most doctors require their patients to sign prior to undergoing the procedure. An informed consent document may describe some of the complications and risks of the procedure and indicate that by signing the document the patient relieves from liability the surgeon, any attending nurses or staff, and the clinic in which the surgeon performed the procedure in case of a complication that results in injury. While an informed consent document does not necessarily bar a patient from raising a claim against a negligent surgeon, the patient should provide his or her lawyer with all the information available about the informed consent document, including a copy of the document, if available, as well as the circumstances under which the patient signed the document (i.e. was the patient given time to thoroughly read the document, did the doctor or other staff member go through the document with the patient and answer questions the patient might have had, etc?). Such information may prove crucial to a lawyer’s ability to develop a case in the face of an informed consent document. Because LASIK surgery is a recent medical development, no long-term outcome statistics exist for the procedure. Complications resulting from LASIK occur in approximately 1.5 to 5 percent of all patients. While doctor error may not account for all LASIK surgery complications it is important to evaluate the specific circumstances to determine if malpractice contributed to an injury. The Alexander Law Firm will thoroughly, completely, and competently investigate the facts and circumstances surrounding your LASIK surgery case. We believe that time is of the essence to prevent evidence from being lost or destroyed; therefore, we immediately begin working on your case. At the Alexander Law Firm, initial consultations are free. You owe it to yourself to know your rights! If you or a loved one has experienced a LASIK eye injury, please call 1-800-350-5110, then press 0 to speak with one of our injury attorneys.
