In the heart of Houston's Montrose, Hugo's brings the earthy flavors of Mexico across the border. "Authentic Mexican cooking is a world-class cuisine that has remained virtually unchanged, " says Executive Chef Hugo Ortega of his native cuisine. Since opening in 2002, the menu features traditional dishes from Mexico's many regions, all made from scratch—including cheeses, moles, tortillas, and chocolate. The restaurant is also celebrated for its award-winning wine program, cocktail list, and tequila menu. Housed in a 1925 building by renowned Houston architect Joseph Finger (designer of City Hall), the space blends chic contemporary touches with traditional elements of old Mexico.
