Adan A. Rios, MD

Adan A. Rios, MD, is a board-certified and fellowship-trained oncologist treating patients 18 years and older. In practice in Houston since 1981, he is committed to the well-being of his patients and makes himself easily available to them. His practice philosophy is service, and he collaborates with a broad base of experts. He’s also a professor in the Department of Internal Medicine’s Division of Hematology/Oncology at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. He is internationally renowned for his work in HIV-associated malignancies and the treatment of tumors with biological response modifiers. His work has been recognized with numerous awards and distinctions; among them, The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center Distinguished Alumnus Award in 2001, the George Washington University Presidential Medal Award in 2003, The University of Texas Health Science Center Minority Services Award in 2008, and the Arrival Award from the University of Houston Law Center in 2014. Residents of the Museum District, Rios and his wife have three children and two grandchildren. Outside of work, he enjoys music and history, especially the history of medicine. Rios is fluent in Spanish.
