Elena T. Cherian, MD, is a board-certified and fellowship-trained endocrinologist with advanced training in endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism. Her clinical interests include adrenal disorders, thyroid/parathyroid/calcium disorders, pituitary disorders, diabetes, obesity, lipid disorders, bone health, and male and female reproductive disorders. She believes in delivering timely, personalized, patient-centered, and high-quality patient care. Cherian joined McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston as an assistant professor in July 2021 and is actively involved in clinical patient care and resident/medical student teaching. She was awarded the Dean’s Teaching Excellence Award in 2022-2023 and 2023-2024. She received her medical degree from Coimbatore Medical College in Tamil Nadu, India. She completed her residency in internal medicine and fellowship in endocrinology/metabolism at McGovern Medical School. She is board-certified in internal medicine and endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism. Outside of work, she prioritizes spending quality time with her husband and kids, and her hobbies include gardening and traveling.
