Tien C. Ko, MD, is a board-certified and fellowship-trained surgeon doing what he’s always wanted: help patients requiring surgical treatment. In addition to patient care, Ko is a professor and the Jack H. Mayfield, MD, Distinguished Professor of Surgery in the Department of Surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. He’s also chief of surgery at Harris Health Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital. Ko received his medical degree from the University of California at Los Angeles. He completed his general surgery internship and residency at Loyola University Medical Center. He followed this with fellowship training in neurodevelopmental disabilities at the University of California-San Francisco, and in public health at Harvard University Medical School. A California native and the father of triplet boys, who is doing exactly what he’s always wanted to do professionally, outside of work, Ko enjoys skiing and playing tennis.
